Wishes from those who will miss it

Twelve out of 38 Electronics People are going to miss the meet this year. But they have sent these messages to share with the rest of us. Buddies, thank you for joining us in your spirit!

“One of my greatest joys during my previous visit to Kerala was to catch up with theformer classmates who could make time to meet me. I realized how important it was to have such unconditional friends even though I did not talk too much when I was in college”

“25th is a lame anniversary. You should be aiming for 50!

Jokes aside, It would me remiss of me in not taking this opportunity to express my long overdue thanks to the folks that helped me get through MACE.

I thank Riyaz for sleeping early on exam nights so that I could go through his notes, for Reji and GV in taking me in on exam nights, for Kala in letting me tag on to the project team at ER&DC, for Tom & Samson being the wonderful benchmates..

I thank everyone else for being there (I knew my amnesia would catch up! 😀) , and for tolerating my immature self with all its shortcomings. You’ve all been wonderful and a privilege to be with.

Should someone have plans for things in Los Angeles, please be sure to look me up..

And wishing everyone a healthy life towards 50th anniversary reunion!”

“Dear All, Having friends like you is one of my greatest blessings! It is unbelievable that another half of our lives have passed since we said our goodbyes at MACE. Yet the warmth of our friendship has only deepened and it almost brings back all the awesome memories from the past -our tours, hostel life, projects… So sorry to miss this great opportunity to meet with you and your wonderful families. Hope to see you all next time! .
Have an Adipoli time! ….. but remember this “CONTROL ……”:)
Best Wishes!”

Reminiscing about those days, life hasn’t changed much in many ways

Riyaz, Prince and I stayed at the same hostel, today we all live in the same city
Riyaz was who I borrowed class notes from, today his daughter is who my daughter borrows notes from
Binto helped me learn programming, years later he helped my mother-in-law while traveling
Shyam and I rode cycle to Bhoothathankettu, today, my son and I ride cycle to Allen Station dam.

Cherian Abraham (EC)

Sreekumar was my pillion rider on my way home, today, I follow his travels on Facebook at home
Georgi was my closest confidant and buddy, today we both work for the same company
Hari’s tea stall is where I went for getting tea, today I walk over to the microwave to make tea
Sitting around in Poulose lodge was how I killed time, today I am running around all the time
Subin and I learned yoga together, I still have not forgotten it altogether

Reminiscing is also a time for Thanks Giving, for all the things I have gained from your sharing

Subin was my guru and friend I hold in high regard, can’t say I learned more from any other grad

For my academics Georgi and Riyaz were indispensable, add in Jyothi and the project team was invincible
While Binto got me unstuck when I ran aground, without Vinod Sir, the project would have never gotten off the ground
Tom organized transnational analysis skills for an IEEE session, I still remember lessons from that session
Shyam got me hooked on Kishore Kumar songs, today if I ever sing, I choose one of those songs

Sports, food and bike rides, Sanil made life fun, I am still trying to learn from him how to make life fun
And of course, the girls in the class, you helped me look at life through a different colored glass

Thank you Riyaz-for initiating this reunion, pretty soon you need to start planning for the next reunion
Thank you Renu for pestering me to write this note, sorry I kept pushing out the deadline a lot

Dear EC’ns and family

I want to extend my love and appreciation to everyone involved in organizing this beautiful MACE Family get together.

We all made our choices good or bad.. since we left MACE and what matters most is that we are here now living with the results of those choices. Reuniting after 25 years is definitely a trip to Nostalgia! Even though, I will miss this opportunity, my spirit will be there with you all:-)

We lived for the everlasting friendships, the music, and the unique tours of our college days. Our life was filled with emotions and excitements during those 5 years. Those memories and people have never changed, only the times we live now have changed. Enjoy the Re-Union and enjoy it to the Maximum!

Love You All!

A missive from a friend, who will miss it:

First of all, sorry for not making it to the meet this time 😦

I cannot believe that it’s a quarter century since we left MACE!

Even though we only had spent a very short period of our life together at MACE, we all have a handful of memories. Good or bad, those memories are very special to each one of us. I like to revisit my past, once in a while and cherish on my good memories, it’s exhilarating.

Neuroscientists say, if you don’t reminisce an incident/image in your life for the next thirty years, it is less likely you would recapture it for the rest of your life. Good that we have decided to meet again in 2017, it will safely cover our memories from 1987 onwards, and we are catching them right at the brim 🙂

Throw everything back until Aug 12th and then Rewind | Rebond | Rekindle for the next two days! Try to create as much as new memories, so we all will be inspired to reunite after another 25 years, and I promise I will be joining you’ll that time 🙂

“Life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans”, believe it or not, our lives are not exactly the way it was planned, but what is more important is whether we are happy with our present!

I am thankful to all my classmates for the fun filled days we spent together at MACE, and special thanks to my hostel mates at YMCA and LH, each one of you have influenced me in one or the other way. I will definitely miss a lot this time, but hoping to see you’ll for the Golden Jubilee Meet, gold is more precious than silver anyways 🙂

Love u buddies!

Enjoy

MACE is an amazing place and electronics engineers have a special impact in today’s world. I studied many engineering subjects in theory and applied knowledge through practical. I feel very lucky to have studied at MACE because of the life-long friends, I have gained. All in all I wholeheartedly recommend MACE because it lived up to my academic and social aspirations. I could not be where I am today if I was not given the knowledge and guidance to aim as high as I did.

  1. Well, ….. we will miss the class atmosphere which could have been created potentially after 25 years …had we all joined .. but nevertheless, we still have 20-26 .. I guess ..

It’s very touching to hear from all of u …each in their own way of reminiscing the past and with such intense expressions ……. we are going to miss u … each one of u … and that will be felt dearly … This is a mortal world …. time and tide will not wait for anyone.. …. yet against this principle, a meeting of this stature was a difficult proposition… having said that … what is essentially important is the affinity and love for each other …. regardless of physical presence .. that’s my humble thought on life and it’s complexities …

I remember a song that goes …. ek pyaar ka Nagma hai… maujo ki ravaani hai …. zindagi aur kuch bhi nahin … Teri meri kahani hai .. what will remain eventually alive will be our stories …

We all are indebted to each other in some way or the other …. but I guess, we all have an uncompromising liability to Riyaz who consistently worked to get us all together …. and many others who sincerely added the much required support for keeping this mission alive,.. consistently too ..for all these years … This meeting is a fruit of all that endeavour ….

Let this be just a beginning for many events of this nature to unfold …
