The Logo and the brain behind!

We have stealthily sneaked out our logo a couple weeks before without a formal launch. A soft launch, if you may. People definitely have liked it and the message is pretty obvious. Throwback did not need much explanation for us engineers. But we need to understand who is behind this and how the designer came out with this concept and logo.

Meet Venu

Venugopal Ramachandran is one of our Royal Mechs. Some of you know him as the cricketer. Unlike many of us typical engineers, he is an artist and has been in the advertising field for the past 22 years. He has many well known tag lines that decorate his chest.

His art is beyond these tag lines. He has written songs for Spanish masala, 22 female kottayam, da thadiya, peruchazhi, basheerinte premalekhanam. He wrote the story, screenplay, songs and dialogues for the movie Neena directed by Lal Jose. Has also a poetry compilation in Malayalam named “Dettol” published by Mathrubhumi books.

Venu is Director Ideation at Maitri Advertising works, in which he is a founding partner. He lives with his wife Mini and two sons – Nikil and Nitin.


It is an honor for us to have Venu take up designing our logo. He used one of his designers – Mrinal Sen who has been working with him on many of the award winning designs. Below is what Mrinal Sen says about the four main elements of our logoboomerang-320

Throwback is a sudden reminder of the past. What else is a better reminder of our B tech days than meeting up again and sharing memories and having fun?.

A boomerang when thrown never fails to return to its thrower. Imagine MACE as the thrower and us as boomerangs. Yup, we went a fair distance away but now we are coming back. Makes it an ideal icon for our reunion, right?

The color orange is associated with joy, warmth, heat, sunshine, enthusiasm, creativity , determination and success. Reason why we chose orange on our logo. The color black is used for contrast and aesthetic value.

The typography adds to the techie feel.
